CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
The school is committed to identifying children with special learning needs and addressing barriers to their learning.
These
programmes are supported in terms of Ministry of Education funding and the Board
of Trustees locally raised funds.
Some
of the ways of addressing these barriers are by providing specialist programmes
and support for children whose learning shows they are most in need, and who fit
our resourcing abilities.
Our
Special Needs Co-ordinator is responsible for our Special Needs programme.
Parents
with children on special needs programmes, receive written notification and have
opportunities to discuss their concerns.
The following programmes are resourced at Glendowie Primary:
Reading Recovery - for children who are six and most needy, as evident in the “observation survey” assessment.
